DESALINATION TYPES

Desalination is now a well proven and demonstrated technology, with numerous both small and large capacity facilities operating around the world. While the primary feed streams are sea water they are also used to extract pure water from brackish water, commercial wastes - such as whey from cheese manufacturing plants, and even to recycle treated sewage water.

Although there are several possible methods of desalting sea water there are only two broad categories which are predominantly used, Distillation and Reverse Osmosis.
