Marin County residents are faced with two major decisions in the near term relative to two major Utility Systems;

ELECTRIC POWER SOURCE:
The County has spearheaded the formation of a Community Choice Aggregation activity which has created a new Marin Energy Authority to generate electricity using alternative "Green" sources. This power would be distributed over existing PG&E power lines and be available to users who elect to not Opt Out when the system comes into being.

WATER SOURCES:
Although MMWD has a long standing program of water conservation they recognize that we are likely to have major water shortages in the future. Accordingly, they have initiated studies, a pilot plant demonstration program, and an Environmental Impact Report relative to the possible construction and operation of a facility to desalt (desalination) sea water taken from San Francisco Bay and add it to the existing resources.
